For centuries, the narrow, winding alleys of Namak Mandi in Peshawar have echoed with the rhythmic tapping of hammers and the rich scent of tanned leather. It is here that the Peshawari Chappal was born.
Originally crafted for the rugged mountainous terrain of the Pashtun belt, its open-toed design and robust sole offered both breathability and unmatched durability. Today, it stands as a symbol of cultural pride — a bridge between ancestral heritage and modern elegance.

We reject chemical treatments. Every piece of hide is vegetable-tanned using ancient methods that take weeks to complete. The result is a leather that is exceptionally strong, yet breathes with the earth.

Every Pakhtoon Steps chappal passes through the calloused hands of master craftsmen. We use only full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather that ages beautifully, developing a rich patina that tells the story of your journeys.
Sourcing the Hide
Selecting the finest, thickest cuts of leather. Vegetable tanning takes weeks but ensures the leather breathes and remains robust for decades.
Hand-Cutting & Stitching
Each strap is cut by hand. The iconic double-stitch is done using heavy waxed thread, ensuring it never unravels even under immense tension.
The Copper Threaded Sole
Traditionally, fine copper wire is embedded into the leather sole to ground the wearer and provide unmatched durability on rocky paths.
